One of the people involved in the series of robberies in the south side of town has been arrested after a car chase Sunday afternoon.
At approximately 4:00 p.m. Cesar Arturo Garcia fled from Maverick County deputies after they tried to pull him over for ignoring a stop sign in the Pueblo Nuevo area. Garcia led deputies on a chase on El Indio Highway until he lost control of the vehicle near Frontier Road, said Sheriff Tom Schmerber.
Garcia then put his vehicle in reverse, causing him to hit a deputy’s vehicle, before speeding away to his residence on the 100 block of Chuck Wagon Road.
“When he got out, that’s when the deputies went in and arrested him. He was struggling. While he was struggling, the mother and father went out and they assaulted the deputies so we ended up arresting all three,” said Schmerber.
Cesar Arturo Garcia’s father, Juan Arturo Garcia, and mother, Olivia Gallegos Garcia, were arrested and charged for assault of a public servant and interference with public duties. Cesar Arturo Garcia is charged with evading arrest, aggravated assault, and resisting arrest.
Schmerber said there was a warrant out for Garcia’s arrest in relation to theft cases reported throughout the last few weeks, and occurring as recently as Friday.
“That’s why he didn’t stop because he knew we had a warrant for his arrest,” said Schmerber.
There is a warrant out for another person involved in the robberies, whose information cannot be released at this time, said Schmerber.
“We’ll catch him pretty soon, so we’re making progress on the investigations of the theft,” said Schmerber.

Schmerber dijo que había una orden de arresto de García en relación con los casos de robo reportados durante las últimas semanas, y que ocurrió tan recientemente como el viernes.
"Por eso no se detuvo porque sabía que teníamos una orden de arresto", dijo Schmerber.
Hay una orden judicial para otra persona involucrada, cuya información no puede ser liberada en este momento, dijo Schmerber.
"Lo atraparemos pronto, así que estamos progresando en las investigaciones del robo", dijo Schmerber.
