Sheriff’s Dept. arrests man wanted for murder in Grand Prairie, Tx.

10:00 a.m.

 

The woman involved in a murder in Grand Prairie, whose killer turned himself in at the Port of Entry I in Eagle Pass, has been identified as Nidia Gomez by the Dallas Morning News, however on Facebook her name is Nidia Valdez.  The 34-year-old is an Eagle Pass native.

 

The woman was married to 33-year-old Mark Silva, the man who stabbed her in the torso and neck, leading to her death. The couple has small children. It is unknown if Silva was from Eagle Pass, but it is known that he has family in Piedras Negras.

 

 

Silva is currently in custody at the Tom Bowles Detention Center awaiting pickup by Grand Prairie Police.

The Maverick County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man by the name of Mark Silva Wednesday afternoon after he was found at Port of Entry 1. Silva is believed to be connected to a murder investigation in Grand Prairie, Tx.

 

Earlier that day, a suspicious vehicle was located on Christian Street in the Loma Bonita area, where an abandoned white Chevrolet Malibu with blood stains in the interior and exterior of the vehicle was found. The Malibu was impounded for further investigation. 

 

Upon running said vehicle’s license plates, the license plates were found out to be from Grand Prairie, Texas. At that time the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department contacted the Grand Prairie Police, regarding said vehicle and welfare concerns for the owner. 

 

Maverick County Sheriff’s office was then advised that said vehicle was involved in a murder where a woman was stabbed multiple times. According to reports, the Hispanic woman between the ages of 30 and 40 was stabbed several times in the neck and torso before stumbling into the RNS Final Stop convenience store to ask for help. She was transferred to a nearby hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

 

 

 

Silva turned himself in at approximately 3:15 p.m. at Port of Entry I, where deputies arrested him upon arrival.
