Although no action as taken on either executive session item in relation to evaluation of candidate resumes submitted for the City Manager position or on the job description and job performance for the position at the City Council meeting Tuesday night, Mayor Ramsey English Cantú did introduce finalist Otis Jones to the community on Wednesday beginning at the Quarry Law Firm ribbon cutting.
Jones is originally from Detroit, Michigan, said English Cantú, where he headed the Detroit Lighting Authority, working under the mayor’s office, as well as handling concerns after the Detroit bail out situation. Jones also has experience in economic development, and under the governor’s office when working with the State of New Jersey.
“Mr. Otis Jones comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience, vital in the process that we’re going through right now for the final selection for the next city manager in our city,” said Mayor Ramsey English Cantu. “We are wrapping up this process to find an individual that can ultimately bring a new concept of management, and a unique way of handling the city and the way that its operations are run. The expertise that he brings can assist, even internationally with those economic development tools he put forth.”
English Cantú said the council wanted to include the community in the process of hiring the new city manager, and would be hosting a meet and greet for the community to get to know Jones at Parilla San Miguel at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.
“There’s going to be some time the citizens and members of our staff will have to visit with Mr. Jones, and the reasoning for that is the council feels that it is important for us to also get community input. He’ll [also] be seeing what’s going around throughout our staff development, see what’s going on in our recreational centers, and tonights event. It’s truly one that’s going to be very beneficial should Mr. Jones decide, and accept if an offer is extended to him shortly after todays processes,” said English Cantú. “We’re not doing the typical selections as always expected from the council, we need to think outside the box and we’re doing just that. We want for our city to move forward and we are trying to locate the most capable individual.”
English Cantú added that just because Jones was there did not guarantee that he would be offered the position. The council still has one other candidate coming in from the valley for an interview.
“This is however the finalist process that we are going through, and we will hopefully be making a selection later on this month,” said English Cantú. “We’re doing everything we can to get this taken care of before the end of this year.”

Aunque ninguna acción fue tomada en sesión ejecutiva del tema en relación a la evaluación del curriculum del candidato presentado para la posición del Administrador de la ciudad o en la descripción del trabajo y desempeño laboral para la posición en el Ayuntamiento el martes por la noche, el alcalde Ramsey English Cantú presentó al finalista Otis Jones a la comunidad el miércoles, en el corte de liston de Quarry Law Firm.
Jones es originaria de Detroit, Michigan, dijo English Cantú, donde encabezó la Detroit Lighting Authority trabajando en la oficina del alcalde, así como la manipulación preocupaciones después de la fianza de Detroit hacia fuera de la situación. Jones también tiene experiencia en el desarrollo económico, y en la oficina del gobernador a la hora de trabajar con el Estado de Nueva Jersey.

Cantú English dijo que el consejo quiso incluir a la comunidad en el proceso de contratar al nuevo administrador de la ciudad e invitar a la comunidad a conocer a Jones en la Parilla San Miguel el miercoles.
"Va a haber algún tiempo que los ciudadanos y miembros de nuestro personal tendrá que visitarlo a Sr. Jones, y el razonamiento de que es el Consejo considera que es importante para nosotros recibir también los aportes de la comunidad.
Él [también] puede ver lo que está sucediendo alrededor de todo nuestro desarrollo personal, ver lo que está sucediendo en nuestros centros recreativos y el evento de esta noche .
Es realmente uno que va a ser muy beneficiosas si el Sr. Jones decide, y hace una aceptación si la oferta se extiende hacia él poco después de los procesos de hoy ," dijo English Cantú. "No estamos haciendo la típico selecciones como siempre espera del Consejo, tenemos que pensar y estamos haciendo precisamente eso. Queremos que nuestra ciudad avance y estamos tratando de localizar a a la persona mas capaz."
English Cantú agregó que sólo porque Jones estaba allí no garantiza que se le ofreciera la posición. El Consejo tiene todavía otro candidato procedente de el valle para una entrevista.
"Esta es, sin embargo, el finalista proceso que estamos atravesando, y esperamos estar haciendo una selección más adelante ," dijo English Cantú.
