Efforts to remove illegally disposed tires have taken another setback as Auditor Sandy Watkins and legal council recommended that commissioners rescind the action of hiring the company currently in charge of relocating the tires.
“These guys are not doing the work we needed. Since they already had the contract, we have to re-advertise once again, give a chance to other people that want to do what we want. That’s in part recommendation by legal council,” said Ruiz. “if the person that we contracted is not willing to go along with the ideas we have then we use that to cancel it and re-advertise it.”
Ruiz said the decision to re-advertise is worrisome especially because of the write-up from TCEQ the county is facing because of their tire problem.
“I personally told the auditor, “Look they’re breathing down our necks, and I’m going to send them to you because we keep changing things around and that’s the best solution we can get’” said Ruiz. “We’re taking a long time to do this and it gets very confusing, but [the auditor] wanted to make sure we do things correctly ,and she feels in order to do things correctly that’s the way we’ve got to do it.”
The reconstruction of the bridge that had collapsed in Deer Run however, is a project that is almost completed, said Ruiz. Traffic is moving through the area, and the engineer has approved plans.
“It’s 60 percent finished, that’s the bottom line. We need to pave it, bring in some more cement, and reinforce it a little bit and it’s ready,” said Ruiz. “I think it’ll take about two more weeks.”

Ruiz dijo que la decisión de volver a anunciar es preocupante sobre todo por el relato de la TCEQ el condado se enfrenta debido a su problema de lo neumáticos.
