The Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles Basketball team won their first award in 20 years in tournament play. Paula Hernandez was given the recognition of being named to the All Tournament Team at the San Antonio Edgewood Invitational Tournament.
Freshman Paula Hernandez, #14 was a key player in the tournament, scoring a total of 88 points for the team throughout the tournament.
The Eagles won the game against Poteet 40 to 31, with Paula Hernandez scoring 14 points and Brisa Padilla scoring 11.
A close game against Cole High School ended with Cole winning by one point : 27 to 26. Sophie Rodriguez scored 10 points while Paula Hernandez scored 9.
Burbank High School won 47 to 38 in the next game, but not without a fight from the Eagles, and 22 points scored by Paula Hernandez.
The Eagles were able to make a comeback in a game against the Young Women’s Leadership Academy with a score of 39 to 29. Paula Hernandez scored 23 points, and Jackie Sesatty scored 8.
The Eagles won the tight game against Fox Tech with Sophie Rodriguez scoring 12 points, Paula Hernandez scoring 11, Brisa Padilla scoring 7, Jackie Sesatty scoring 7, and N. Gonzalez scoring 7.
The Consolation Championship was won by the Eagles 33 to 13 against Kennedy High School. During the game Paula Hernandez scored 9 points, Mckayla Hernandez scored 6 points, Brisa Padilla scored 5 points, and Sophie Rodriguez scored 5 points.
