Despite many expecting for the eight month search for a new city manager to come to an end at Monday night’s city council meeting, officials did not decide on anyone to take over the position currently filled by Interim City Manager Roberto Gonzalez.
After a two hour executive session, Mayor Ramsey English Cantú, along with the city council decided they would conduct a second round of interviews for candidates Arturo Rodriguez, Jesus Sanchez, and Rudy Bowles, instead.
The one-on-one interviews between finalists and council members will take place sometime next week.
A fourth candidate, Otis Jones, from the state of Michigan, has expressed that he is no longer interested in the position and has found employment elsewhere.
The appointment for the position would not be made until January of 2017.
Also discussed during executive session was the termination of the of the DSA Consultant Contract for the Public Safety Headquarters.
“They’re going to terminate with them and also authorize administration to negotiate an agreement with the job superintendent,” said City Secretary Imelda Rodriguez.

A pesar de que muchos esperaban que los ocho meses de búsqueda de un nuevo gerente de la ciudad llegaran a su fin en la reunión del concilio de la ciudad el lunes por la noche, los funcionarios no decidieron quién tomaría el puesto ocupado por Roberto González.
Después de una sesión ejecutiva de dos horas, el alcalde Ramsey English Cantú, junto con el ayuntamiento decidieron que realizarían una segunda ronda de entrevistas para los candidatos Arturo Rodríguez, Jesús Sánchez y Rudy Bowles.
Las entrevistas individuales entre los finalistas y los miembros del consejo tendrán lugar en la próxima semana.
Un cuarto candidato, Otis Jones, del estado de Michigan, ha expresado que ya no está interesado en la posición y ha encontrado empleo en otra parte.
El nombramiento para el cargo sería hasta enero 2017.
También otro tema que se discutió durante la sesión ejecutiva fue la terminación del Contrato de Consultor de DSA para el edificio de Seguridad Pública.
"Van a terminar con esta compañia y también autorizar a la administración a negociar un acuerdo con el superintendente de trabajo", dijo la secretaria de la ciudad, Imelda Rodríguez.
