The Maverick County Sheriff’s Department has reported there has been an increase in robberies recently.
Sheriff Tom Schmerber said this was not particularly surprising since they regularly see a higher number of break-ins close to the holidays. He added that the thieves would knock on doors during the day, and if no one answers they break into the house.
“They take items, not very expensive but they take items,” said Schmerber. “We’re trying to see if we can catch those persons.”
From Friday to Monday there have been three reports of burglary of habitation to the county, as well as auto theft and the theft of a wallet.
On Friday, a resident on the 1900 block of Coyunda reported unknown subjects had entered her home and took several items without consent.
On Saturday, a deputy responded to the 2700 block of Eidson Road, where a resident reported unknown subjects had entered the residence and took several items without consent.
Deputies also responded to a complainant on the 3200 block of Yucca Loop who reported a known male subject had taken a 2014 Ford Explorer from her residence without consent. Approximately one hour later, the resident spoke with Sheriff’s officials to advise her vehicle was back at the location.
Monday, a complainant on the 900 block of Casales reported a known juvenile had taken several items from her apartment without consent.

El viernes, un residente en la cuadra 1900 de Coyunda reportó que sujetos desconocidos habían entrado a su casa y habían tomado varios artículos.
El sábado, un diputado respondió al 2700 de Eidson Road, donde un residente informó que sujetos desconocidos habían ingresado a la residencia y tomaron varios artículos
Los diputados también respondieron a un denunciante en el 3200 de Yucca Loop que informó que un conocido sujeto masculino se había llevado un Ford Explorer 2014 de su residencia
Aproximadamente una hora más tarde, el residente habló con los oficiales del sheriff para avisar que su vehículo estaba de vuelta en el lugar.
El lunes, un denunciante en el 900 de Casales informó que un joven conocido había tomado varios artículos de su apartamento.
