Over 300 people attended the statewide Red White and You job fair hosted by the Texas Workforce Commission at Southwest Texas Junior College on Thursday.
More than 30 companies were at the fair seeking employees, including federal and state government entities like the US Border Patrol and Texas Parks and Wildlife. Also present were employers from restaurants; two or three petroleum industry companies, prisons in places like Huntsville and Dilley, and local stores looking to hire seasonal workers.
Texas Workforce Local Director Alberto Faz is primarily targeted towards veterans, but because the community does not have a high veteran population, the opportunity is given to all people who are in need of employment.
