Two juveniles were issued citations, and one woman was arrested after a fight on Francis Street Sunday afternoon.
At approximately 2:00 p.m., two juveniles, both 16, were fighting in the middle of the street, when one of their mothers, a woman by the name of Belinda Ramos, came outside with a bat.
“The two juveniles were fighting and the mother got excited and went inside and got a bat and swung at the other juvenile,” said Sheriff Tom Schmerber. “That’s why she got arrested because she got involved, too.”
Ramos struck the minor with the bat, causing a laceration near his eyebrow, then struck the victim’s vehicle with a bat while her son threw rocks at the vehicle.
The victim was transported to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for medical evaluation for an injury Schmerber said was not serious.
Ramos was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center, while both juveniles were given citations for disorderly conduct.
