Maverick Nursing & Rehab Hosts Luncheon

Maverick County Nursing and Rehab hosted a luncheon for the Eagle Pass High School Football team before their away game against Laredo United.

“It was something unexpected. Mr. Sosa came down and talked to our booster moms who do an awesome job also, and they provided this great meal for us,” said Head Football Coach at EPHS Tom Gonzalez.

The meal was a great reminder to the athletes of their support, especially before a game against one of their toughest competitors.

Steve Sosa and Adriana Reyes from MNR were present at the luncheon.

“We’re here today because we know how much our community supports both the Mavericks and Eagles, and we want to be part of that because we’re like their biggest fans. We just want to make them feel that they have our support, they have community support, and they have our senior citizen support also,” said Reyes. “We’re filling them up so they have energy to go out there and win, and know that they’re loved, they’re appreciated, and that everyone is pulling for them.”

Sosa explained that this is the second time MNR has hosted the luncheon.

“The first time was at the SAC, and we had a great turnout. This time we’ve got all the athletes here, the coaches, boosters, and members from our nursing home here so it’s something that’s turned out really nice,” said Sosa.

President of the Football Booster Myrna Rodriguez was moved by the event.

“Just seeing this taking place, I get the chills because it’s beautiful. This speaks volumes of their organization,” said Rodriguez. “It just means a lot to the coaches, the fans, and of course to our players. We don’t have the words to thank them for their support and love, and we’re so appreciative.”
