PAID POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENT BY CANDIDATE
I, Jorge Barrera am announcing my candidacy for EPISD School Board Place 1 and humbly ask for your support in the upcoming elections.
I bring years of experience as a Rio Grande Regional Water Planning Group Board Member, Rio Grande Watermaster Advisory Committee Member, Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce Board Member, Southwest Texas Junior College Engineering Advisory Committee Member, as well as about ten years working on multi-million dollar projects with the Eagle Pass Water Works System, to better serve the community.
With three young children ranging from the 2-years-old to 8-years-old, I have a vested interest for running. I want the best for them during their time in the Eagle Pass ISD.
As an EPISD student myself, I saw how difficult it was to be unprepared when I left to Texas A&M where I earned my Electrical Engineering degree. I would like to see students and teachers have the resources to make sure our students have the opportunities necessary to feel ready for college, or for a trade school.
I hope to do this by hiring qualified staff, school personnel and administrators and retain quality teachers and administrators; provide help, tools and support needed to our teachers and administrators;
get parents to be more involved in children’s education and to prepare children for the challenges of college life; help find solutions and help with the current issues that affect our kids like bullying, abuse, and disabilities; plan and solve current problems with needed equipment, tools, buildings, and other needed materials but have the vision to plan for the next 15 to 20 years as well.
Oct 24 through Nov 4 is early election and the general election is November 8. Please go out and vote. We’re hoping for a huge turnout and would like everyone to come out and vote.
