The C.C. Winn Mavericks came out on top in Friday's home non-district game against Central Catholic with a score of 27-14.
The Mavericks now improve to a 4-1 overall record and will be seeing their first district competition when they travel to McCollum for a 5A Region IV District 25 contest on Friday, October 7.
The Mavericks will be going up against a Cowboys squad that is coming off a 49-27 non-district loss to San Marcos (San Marcos, TX). The Cowboys record now stands at 1-4.
C.C. Winn is currently sharing the top spot in the district standings with Uvalde who also has a 4-1 overall record with wins against Fort Stockton, Carrizo Springs, John F. Kennedy and Prepa Tech (Monterrey, Mexico). Harlandale and Southside San Antonio follow with 3-2 records, and McCollum and Floresville finish out the district team standings.
