The Eagle Pass Independent School District has called for a Tax Ratification Election on its proposed Rollback Tax Rate of $1.18043 per every $100 valuation.
The Maverick County voter will decide if the proposed 2.5 cent tax rate increase will stand or be denied.
The election is crucial for the School District who will receive $ 5.9 million in funds from the State of Texas if the tax increase passes.
Residents who are unregistered to vote can still register until April 27 in order to qualify to vote during the May 27th election.
Early voting will be held from May 10 through the 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including Saturday May 20 at the Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center. Election day will be held on Saturday, May 27 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
